Do I Really Need a Financial Planner?

It is a fair question, with all the resources out there such as AI, youtube videos and countless blog posts it would easy to suggest that you could do it yourself…

Could you do your own financial planning?

Absolutely.

Some people genuinely enjoy researching everchanging tax legislation and investment markets. They have the time, the interest and the confidence to make those decisions themselves.

If that's you, you may not need a financial planner.

But most people have careers, businesses and families to focus on. They don't want to spend their evenings reading HMRC guidance or keeping up with changing pension legislation. They'd rather have confidence that someone is doing that on their behalf.

Financial Planning focus isn’t on the product or the fund, it isn’t a one size fits all, it is personalised to you.

A good financial planner will spend far more time understanding your circumstances, goals and concerns than discussing products.

What are you trying to achieve?

When would you like to retire?

How much income will you need?

What happens if you're unable to work?

How can you minimise unnecessary tax?

Only once those questions have been answered should any recommendations be made.

The products are simply the tools.

The financial plan is what matters.
